AI SEO audit: how to get your AI to fix your website SEO, AEO and AI search traffic, by Sarah Cordiner, business and AI educator

Updated November 2026.

Quick answer: To get your AI to improve your website’s SEO, AEO and AI search traffic: back up your site, connect your AI to Google Search Console, Google Analytics, your website admin, your blog and your Meta pixel, then paste in the master prompt below. Ask it to audit every page, report what it finds, and fix titles, descriptions, metadata, indexing, AI-readable formatting, tracking pixels, redirects and out-of-date offers, with your approval before anything is deleted or published. About two weeks after I did this, my website traffic was up 115% week on week.

My Google Analytics: active users up 115.9% and new users up 121.7%, week on week (visitor counts blurred)

TL;DR

  • You don’t need to know how SEO works. You need an AI that can log in, and a good prompt.
  • Connect Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4, your website or WordPress admin, your blog and funnels, and your Meta pixel. Bing Webmaster Tools is a bonus.
  • Paste the master prompt (below). It audits every page, reports first, then fixes with your approval.
  • It checks indexing, titles, descriptions, tags, structured data, AI-readable formatting, pixels, redirects, broken links, speed and old prices or offers.
  • Back up first, give the AI its own login, and approve anything that deletes, publishes, redirects or changes a price.
  • Check the results in Search Console and Google Analytics at 2, 4 and 8 weeks.

Why I let my AI loose on my website

I’ll be honest with you. For years I paid someone a lot of money every month to look after my website. When I finally got my AI to do a full SEO and AEO audit of my websites, funnels and blogs, it found things that made my jaw drop.

There were catastrophic errors, omissions and missing pieces on important pages. All the stuff that stops a website being found. None of it had ever been fixed.

Here’s what my AI found:

What my AI found in my SEO audit: pages not indexed on Google, wrong formatting, poor page titles and descriptions, poor tags and metadata, and ad pages with no Facebook pixel
  • Pages that weren’t indexed on Google at all. If Google hasn’t indexed a page, it can’t show it to anyone. It’s as if the page doesn’t exist.
  • Pages formatted wrongly, so Google and AI search engines couldn’t easily read what they were about.
  • Poor page titles and descriptions. The words people see in search results were missing, duplicated or vague.
  • Poor tagging and metadata behind the scenes.
  • Pages running ads with no Facebook tracking pixel on them. So I was paying for ads to pages that couldn’t measure results or build a retargeting audience.

My AI fixed them. About two weeks later, my website traffic was up 115% week on week, just from making these changes.

I shared the prompt I used in my Legends Lab WhatsApp group, and the response was so big that I’ve turned it into this full guide. I’ve also made the prompt a lot stronger. You don’t need to know how to do any of this yourself. You just need to give your AI the prompt, follow what it tells you, and let it do the work.

The short version: your AI can now do the job that website managers and SEO agencies charged thousands for. It reads every page, checks Google’s own data, and fixes what’s wrong while you approve each step.

SEO, AEO and AI search, explained simply

Before you hand this to your AI, it helps to know what it’s actually fixing. Here’s every term in one place.

TermWhat it meansWhy it matters to you
SEO (search engine optimisation)Making your pages easy for Google and Bing to find, understand and rank.More people find you on Google without paying for ads.
AEO (answer engine optimisation)Making your content easy for AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews to quote and recommend.People now ask AI who to hire. You want to be the answer.
AI referral trafficVisitors who click through to your site from an AI tool like ChatGPT or Perplexity. It’s a fast-growing source of warm, ready-to-buy visitors.
IndexingGoogle storing a copy of your page so it can show it in results.A page that isn’t indexed gets zero search traffic.
Page title and meta descriptionThe blue headline and the short summary shown in search results. They decide whether someone clicks on you or the next result.
Metadata and tagsHidden labels that tell search engines and social sites what a page is about, plus categories and tags on blog posts.Helps the right people (and AI) find the right page.
Structured data (schema)Code that labels your page for machines, for example “this is a FAQ”, “this is a course”, “this is the author”.AI search engines and Google read it to understand and quote you.
Sitemap and robots.txtA list of your pages for search engines, and a file that tells crawlers what they can and can’t visit.A wrong robots.txt can quietly block Google or AI tools from your whole site.
Tracking pixelA tiny piece of code (like the Meta pixel) that records visits for ads and retargeting.Without it, ads can’t measure results and you can’t retarget visitors later.
301 redirectA permanent forward from an old page address to a new one.Keeps visitors and Google’s trust when you move or merge pages.
Canonical tagA note on a page saying “this is the main version”.Stops duplicate pages competing against each other.

If you want to go deeper on the difference between SEO, AEO and GEO, read why blogging, SEO, AEO and AI search matter more than ever. And if redirects and subdomains make your eyes glaze over, I’ve explained them in the difference between a domain and a subdomain.

What you need before you start

  • An AI that can take action, not just chat. You need one that can use a browser or connect to your tools, such as GrokBot, Claude CoWork, or ChatGPT with its browser and connectors switched on. A plain chat window can give advice, but it can’t log in and check your pages.
  • Admin access to your own accounts: your website, Google account, and Meta Business account. If someone else set these up for you, ask them to make you the owner first. It’s your business, so you should own your own logins.
  • A full backup of your website (more on this in step 1).
  • About an hour for the first session, mostly spent clicking approve. The AI does the heavy lifting.

Not sure which AI to use? I’ve shown exactly how I set mine up in my Claude CoWork Masterclass and my GrokBot Masterclass.

How to get your AI to improve your SEO: 7 steps

How to get your AI to improve your website SEO in 7 steps: back up, connect your tools, paste the prompt, read the report, approve the fixes, request indexing, check results, then repeat monthly

Step 1: Back up your website first

This is the one step you must not skip. If your AI (or anyone) ever makes a change you don’t like, a backup means you can put everything back in minutes.

  • WordPress: use your host’s backup tool, or a plugin like UpdraftPlus, and download a copy.
  • Tekmatix or another website and funnel builder: most keep page versions you can restore. Ask your AI to note the current title, description and settings of every page before it touches anything.
  • Ask your AI to keep a change log: a simple list of every page it changed, what it was before and what it is now.

As I told my Legends Lab members, if it stuffs anything up, please don’t blame me. That’s exactly why step 1 is a backup.

Step 2: Connect your tools

Here’s what to connect and why. You don’t need to understand the settings. Paste this list into your AI and say “walk me through connecting each of these, one at a time”. It will tell you exactly where to click.

Tools to connect to your AI for an SEO audit: Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4, website or WordPress admin, blog and funnels, Meta pixel and Bing Webmaster Tools
ToolWhat your AI uses it forHow to give access
Google Search ConsoleWhich pages Google has indexed, why some aren’t, what people search to find you, sitemaps and crawl errors.Add your site as a Domain property (your AI will walk you through the DNS step). Then either log in for the AI in its browser, or add it as a user under Settings, Users and permissions.
Google Analytics 4 (GA4)Your traffic, your top pages, where visitors come from, and how many come from AI tools.Log in for the AI in its browser, or add access under Admin, Property access management. Viewer access is enough for the audit.
Website or WordPress adminReading and updating page titles, descriptions, headings, image alt text, schema, redirects and plugins.Best: create a separate user for your AI with the Editor or Administrator role, and an Application Password (Users, Profile, Application Passwords) instead of your own password.
Your blog and funnel builderChecking every blog post and funnel step, not just your home page.Log in for the AI, or use the builder’s AI connection if it has one.
Meta pixel (Facebook Events Manager)Checking the pixel is on every page that runs ads or that you might retarget later.Find your pixel ID in Events Manager, Data sources. Your AI can then check every page for it.
Bing Webmaster Tools (optional)Bing’s index also feeds Microsoft Copilot, and many AI search tools lean on Bing. It also supports IndexNow for faster indexing.Sign in with Google and import your sites straight from Search Console in a couple of clicks.

Never type a password into the AI chat. Log in yourself inside the AI’s browser, or give it its own user account and app password. You can switch that access off the moment the job is done.

Step 3: Paste in the master prompt

This is the improved version of the prompt I shared with my Legends Lab members. Copy the whole thing into your AI. Swap the bits in [square brackets] for your details.

I want to improve the SEO (search engine optimisation) and AEO (answer engine optimisation for AI search tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews) of my websites, funnels and blogs, so more people and more AI tools find, trust and recommend my business.

My business: [what you do, who you help, where you are based].
My websites, funnels and blogs: [list every web address, including subdomains].
My main offers and current prices: [list them, so you can spot anything out of date].
My Meta (Facebook) pixel ID: [pixel ID], and my Google Analytics 4 property: [name].

First, help me connect you to Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4, my website and blog admin, my funnel builder and my Meta pixel (and Bing Webmaster Tools if I have it). I'm not technical, so walk me through each connection one step at a time. Never ask me to paste a password into this chat.

Before you change anything, make sure I have a full backup, and keep a change log of every change you make (page, what it was, what it is now).

Then run a full audit of every page, post and funnel step and check:
1. Indexing: which pages are and aren't indexed in Google Search Console, and why. Check my sitemap and robots.txt, and make sure Google, Bing and the main AI search crawlers are not accidentally blocked.
2. Page titles and meta descriptions: missing, duplicated, too long or vague. Write better ones with the main keyword first.
3. Headings and formatting: one clear H1 per page, logical H2s and H3s, short paragraphs, and a direct answer near the top, so both people and AI can read it.
4. Metadata and tags: blog categories and tags, social share images and titles (Open Graph), canonical tags and favicon.
5. Structured data (schema): add or fix Organization or Person, Article, FAQ, Course, Event, Product or Service schema as fits each page.
6. AI search readiness: add short FAQ sections that answer real customer questions, a clear "who we are and who we help" statement, author details, and an llms.txt file if it suits my site.
7. Tracking: check my Meta pixel and Google Analytics are on every page, especially pages running ads, and set up an "AI referrals" channel in Google Analytics so I can see traffic from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and Claude.
8. Redirects and broken links: find old, duplicate or thin pages that should be merged or 301 redirected to newer ones, and fix broken internal and external links.
9. Out-of-date content: find old prices, offers, dates, products or events I no longer offer and suggest replacements from my current offers above.
10. Images and speed: missing alt text, huge image files and slow pages, with simple fixes.
11. Internal links: link related pages and posts to each other, and to my main offers.

Give me a before-and-after report in plain language: what you found, why it matters, and a prioritised fix list (quick wins first, then high impact, then nice to have).

Then make the fixes. You can update titles, descriptions, tags, alt text, schema, FAQs and internal links. Ask for my approval before you delete, unpublish, publish, redirect anything or change a price or offer. After the fixes, submit my sitemap and request indexing for the pages you changed in Google Search Console (and Bing if connected).

Finally, recommend any other improvements to my sites, and remind me to check the results with you in 2, 4 and 8 weeks.

Why this version works better than a simple “improve my SEO” request:

  • It gives your AI your real business details and current offers, so it can spot outdated prices and write titles that sound like you.
  • It asks for a report before fixes, so you see what it found and nothing happens behind your back.
  • It covers AI search, not just Google: FAQs, schema, llms.txt and AI crawler access.
  • It builds in safety: backup, change log, no passwords in chat, and your approval for anything big.
  • It ends with indexing requests and a results check, so the work actually counts.

Step 4: Read the audit report

Your AI will come back with a report. Don’t panic if it’s long. Mine was. Ask it to explain anything you don’t understand, and to sort the list into three groups: quick wins, high impact, and nice to have.

If you only do one thing today, do the quick wins. Missing titles, missing descriptions, unindexed pages and missing pixels are usually fixed in minutes.

Step 5: Approve the fixes

Let your AI make the safe changes (titles, descriptions, tags, alt text, FAQs, schema, internal links). Personally check anything on the approval list: deletions, redirects, publishing or unpublishing pages, and price or offer changes.

A good rule: if a change would affect what a customer pays or whether a page exists, you approve it. Everything else, let the AI get on with it.

Step 6: Request indexing and submit your sitemap

Once the fixes are done, your AI should submit your sitemap in Google Search Console (Indexing, Sitemaps) and request indexing for the pages it changed (paste the page address into URL Inspection, then click Request indexing). If you connected Bing Webmaster Tools, it can do the same there.

Step 7: Check your results in 2, 4 and 8 weeks

Put three reminders in your calendar, or ask your AI to remind you. Each time, paste this:

Compare my Google Search Console and Google Analytics results for the last 28 days against the 28 days before the SEO changes. Show me clicks, impressions, average position, indexed pages, AI referral visits and my top 10 pages, in plain language. Then tell me the next 5 most important fixes.

Where to look for your AI referral traffic

Google Analytics doesn’t show AI traffic as its own channel by default. It hides it inside Referral. Ask your AI to set up a custom channel group (Admin, Data display, Channel groups) called AI referrals, matching sources like chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai, gemini.google.com, copilot.microsoft.com and claude.ai. Then you can watch that number grow week by week.

Your AI website safety checklist

I let my AI reign free, and it absolutely paid off. But I set it up safely first. Tick these off before you start:

  • Full website backup downloaded and saved somewhere else.
  • AI has its own login (or you logged in for it). No passwords pasted into the chat.
  • AI only has the access it needs. Viewer access for analytics is enough for the audit.
  • AI keeps a change log of every change.
  • You approve every deletion, redirect, publish or unpublish, and price or offer change.
  • Page addresses are never changed without a 301 redirect from the old one.
  • Nothing is set to “noindex” or blocked in robots.txt without you knowing why.
  • Your privacy policy mentions your tracking pixels, and you follow cookie consent rules where you sell.
  • You remove the AI’s access when the job is done, or keep it only if you want ongoing monthly checks.

For more on keeping your business safe with AI, read how to use AI agents safely in your business. If you’re on WordPress, it’s also worth checking whether your site needs a PHP security update while you’re in there.

What results can you expect?

Every website is different, so I can’t promise you my numbers. Here’s roughly what happens:

WhenWhat usually happens
Same dayPixels, titles, descriptions and FAQs are fixed. Ads start tracking properly.
First weekGoogle starts recrawling the pages you asked it to index. Unindexed pages begin to appear.
2 to 4 weeksImpressions and clicks in Search Console usually start to move. This is when my website traffic went up 115% week on week.
1 to 3 monthsRankings settle, AI tools pick up your new FAQs and schema, and AI referral traffic becomes easier to see.

The bigger win is that you finally know what’s on your website. Once your AI has done the audit, it can repeat it every month in minutes, which is something I wish my old website manager had done for me.

Websites, funnels and blogs with AI built in

Let your AI run your website from one place

I run my websites, funnels and blog posts on Tekmatix. Every page has its own SEO title, description, keywords, social image and tracking code settings, so there is a proper place for every fix your AI recommends.

Even better, you can connect the AI you already use (Claude, ChatGPT or GrokBot) to your Tekmatix account. Tell it to check your funnel pages and blog posts, update their SEO settings and add your pixel, then review what it did. No learning the software, no tutorials.

See how Tekmatix works

You stay in control: your AI shows you what it will do and asks before it sends or changes anything.

Frequently asked questions

Can AI really do an SEO audit of my website?

Yes. An AI that can use a browser or connect to your tools (such as GrokBot, Claude CoWork or ChatGPT) can read every page, check Google Search Console and Google Analytics, compare page titles and descriptions, find missing tracking pixels and broken links, and give you a prioritised fix list. You still approve the changes before anything is deleted or published.

What is the difference between SEO and AEO?

SEO (search engine optimisation) helps your pages show up in Google and Bing results. AEO (answer engine optimisation) helps AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews understand your content and quote or recommend you in their answers. Most of the work is the same: clear pages, good metadata, structured data and direct answers to real questions.

What tools should I connect to my AI for an SEO audit?

Start with Google Search Console (indexing and search data), Google Analytics 4 (traffic and AI referrals), your website or WordPress admin, your blog and funnel builder, and your Meta (Facebook) pixel in Events Manager. Bing Webmaster Tools is a useful optional extra because Bing’s index also feeds Microsoft Copilot.

Is it safe to give AI access to my website?

It can be, if you set it up carefully. Back up your site first, give the AI its own login with only the access it needs, never paste passwords into a chat, and tell it to ask for your approval before it deletes, publishes, redirects or changes prices. Keep a change log so anything can be undone.

How long does it take to see SEO results after an AI audit?

Some fixes, like adding a missing pixel or requesting indexing, work within days. Rankings and traffic usually take a few weeks to move as Google and Bing recrawl your pages. Check Search Console and Google Analytics at 2, 4 and 8 weeks. About two weeks after making these changes, my own website traffic was up 115% week on week (active users in Google Analytics), but every site is different.

What is llms.txt and do I need one?

llms.txt is a proposed plain-text file at the root of your website that gives AI tools a short summary of who you are and links to your most important pages. It is not a Google ranking factor and not every AI tool reads it, but it is quick and harmless to add, so many businesses now include one.

How do I check if my pages are indexed on Google?

Open Google Search Console, go to Indexing then Pages to see which pages are indexed and why others are not, or paste any page address into the URL Inspection bar at the top. If a page is not indexed and it should be, fix the reason shown and click Request indexing.

Do I need a Facebook pixel if I am not running ads yet?

Yes, it is worth adding now. The Meta pixel quietly records visits from the day you install it, so when you do run ads or retargeting later, you already have an audience to show them to. Make sure your privacy policy mentions it and that you follow the cookie consent rules where you sell.

Eight logins. Eight bills. Zero of them talking.

Most business owners I meet are paying for a website here, an email tool there, a booking app, a course platform, a CRM they never open... and then paying someone to glue it all together with duct tape and Zapier.

  • 1Leads fall through the cracks because your forms, inbox and CRM live in different places.
  • 2Every new tool means another login, another bill and another thing to learn.
  • 3You can't see what's actually working because your data is scattered across ten dashboards.

A note from the founder

I didn't set out to start a software company. I started the toolbox I needed.

Founder and CEO, Tekmatix20+ years in businessPostgraduate qualified educator

After 20+ years in business and more than 280,000 students, I kept seeing the same thing. Brilliant people with brilliant expertise, drowning in tech. Paying for ten tools, using two of them, and spending their evenings on YouTube trying to make them talk to each other.

So I put everything a business needs into one platform, then wrapped it in the thing I know best: education and support. Tekmatix runs my own websites, courses, funnels, emails and AI agents every single day. I wouldn't recommend it if I didn't use it.

Questions I get asked

Tech stack FAQs.

Still wondering if Tekmatix is right for you? Here are the straight answers.

What is Tekmatix?

Tekmatix is an all-in-one AI business platform. It brings your website, funnels, CRM, email marketing, bookings, payments, courses, memberships, communities, social media scheduling and AI agents together in one connected account, so everything talks to each other.

Do I need to be techy to use it?

No. Tekmatix was built for non-techie business owners. You get a free set-up call, 24/7 live chat, three free live training calls every weekday, a help centre, video tutorials and ready-made templates to get started.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. The Starter and Pro plans come with a 7-day free trial. The Max plan starts with a demo, so the team can make sure it's the right fit.

Can I pay in Australian dollars?

Yes. You can pay your subscription in AUD or USD. Usage charges for emails, SMS, calls and AI are pay-as-you-go and always billed in USD. See tekmatix.com/rebilling for rates.

Will my price go up as my list grows?

No. Starter and Pro include unlimited contacts, so your plan price doesn't increase as your business grows. You also get unlimited courses, students and staff users.

Can you move me off my current platforms?

Yes. Tekmatix Teksperts offer fixed-price migration and done-for-you set-up services, or can help you integrate the tools you want to keep. See tekmatix.com/services.

Can I run courses, memberships and communities in it?

Yes. Tekmatix was made especially for course creators, educators and coaches. Courses and memberships are included on every plan, and communities and certificates come with Pro and Max.

Which plan should I choose?

Starter suits most service businesses and solo experts. Pro is best if you run courses with a community, events, contracts or an affiliate program. Max is for people running more than one business or who want more AI and a monthly strategy call. Not sure? See all the Tekmatix features.
