I saw this post go up in one of the women in business Facebook groups I’m in, and I’ve seen a few people post about this happening to them.

Now, assuming that you did your job thoroughly and completely met your end of the agreement, product or service – never bend your terms for these kinds of bullies.

If you have indeed done everything that you promised as part of the transaction, and you have somebody who is forcing you into providing free services beyond the scope of what they’ve paid for; or free goods, or some other unreasonable demand “or else they’ll leave a bad review to damage your reputation”, this could be called ‘extortion’ and is illegal.

Do not EVER bend to the threats of an extortionist.

Keep all communication.

Remain professional.

Outline how you have delivered all that was purchased.

Get legal advice.

And make sure you have proper terms of service, refund/cancellation/amendment policies and legal agreements in place.
