One of the ways I use my books to get out there as an expert in my field is to do ‘Meet The Author’ appearances in bookstores.

Yes, you can do this as a self-published author.

Yes, you can do this even if the bookstore hasn’t purchased any bulk stock of your book!

So, how did I get major national book chains inviting and promoting me to do presentations and book signings in their bookstores in major cities across my country???

Simple.

(You fellas always overcomplicate stuff, don’tcha?!)….

I downloaded a list of every single bookshop in Australia and sent them all an email saying,

“Hi, my name is Sarah Cordiner. I’m an expert in course creation, and I’ve just published my new book called xyz’. I would absolutely love to come and do an author appearance in your bookshop and bring you some books.”

You’ll be amazed at how many said yes!

For instance, Dymocks has their own email list of thousands of shoppers. When I did an author appearance, they emailed their whole shoppers list to promote my appearance (Here’s the old video for those who want to see this beaut from over 7 years ago haha: https://youtu.be/MYe7KKcIh1I?si=gmEryYlf1T8INyE6 )…. and an entire room full of people turned up.

I sold a ton of books, gained clients, and expanded my contact list with a simple registration form for email addresses in exchange for a free gift.

You can do that, right?!!
