What the Flaming Funnel is a Funnel Anyway?

You’re probably seeing words like “landing page,” “opt-in page,” “sales page,” and your head’s doing a spin worthy of The Exorcist. I get it.

Here’s the simple version: A funnel is a path. It’s the guided journey you take your audience through that brings them from, “Oh hey, that’s interesting” to “TAKE MY MONEY!”

Unlike a website, which is basically a digital brochure (aka a snoozefest that people browse and bounce), a funnel is a strategic process designed to turn visitors into leads, and leads into buyers.

Think:

  • Opt-in Page (freebie magnet)
  • Thank You Page (next step CTA)
  • Sales Page (showcase your offer)
  • Checkout Page (make that sale!)
  • Upsell/Downsell Page (bonus offers)
  • Thank You / Delivery Page

Each one has a JOB. Each one has a PURPOSE. That is what makes it a funnel.

Why Funnels are the Backbone of an Online Business

A good funnel:

  • Collects leads on autopilot
  • Sells products while you sleep
  • Nurtures your audience without constant manual effort
  • Increases customer value with automated upsells

And guess what? It does this all without you having to show up LIVE every five minutes.

I’m not just talking theory. I walked attendees through building a 3-step funnel LIVE during the workshop using Tekmatix (my all-in-one business platform), but what I taught applies no matter what tech you use.

Watch First, Build Second

Here’s a hot tip: watch the whole demo first. Don’t try and click buttons as I go (you’ll just end up crying into your wine). Watch it all the way through once, then go back with your mouse ready.

Why? Because this is a new language for many of you. The first time you hear it, it’ll feel like I’m speaking in techno-jargon. The second time? You’ll be like, “Oh, I got this.”

And don’t worry. I’ve worked with complete technophobes and had them up and running by the end of this workshop.

Step-by-Step: Building a Funnel That Converts

  1. Start With the End Goal
    • What are you trying to sell?
    • What is the result you want from this funnel?
  2. Build Your Freebie or Offer
    • This is your hook.
    • Make it juicy.
    • It could be a lead magnet (free ebook, checklist, training) or a low-ticket offer.
  3. Create the Pages (in Tekmatix or whatever tool you use):
    • Opt-In Page: Get their email.
    • Thank You Page: Upsell or redirect to your offer.
    • Sales Page: Sell that thang.
    • Checkout Page: Take payment.
    • Delivery Page: Fulfil with wow-factor.
  4. Set Up Your Automations
    • Tag them.
    • Send automated emails.
    • Trigger follow-ups.
  5. Make It Look Profesh
    • Design matters. But keep it simple.
    • Use your branding. Keep fonts and colours consistent.
  6. Test Everything
    • Pretend you’re the customer. Click every link. Submit every form.
