YouTube has just announced ‘AI cloning’ for Shorts…. 
That means you’ll be able to create a digital twin of yourself to speak and present like you – right inside YouTube Shorts!
Your face.
Your voice.
Your mannerisms.
You: CLONED as an AI.
Producing vidros without you needing to actually be on camera… and not have to pay for costly face-cloning software like HeyGen.
Here’s a quick summary from what ive read from the YouTube release info:
- You give YouTube a short sample of your face and voice
- It creates a photorealistic AI version of you
- You type a prompt in text
- Your digital twin records the Short for you!
So yes… you can be “showing up consistently on video” while still in your pyjamas, on a plane, or avoiding your ring light entirely.
How To Access the YouTube Shorts AI Clone Feature:
- The YouTube Shorts camera
- The YouTube Create app
This was only announced YESTERDAY by the YouTube CEO, so is still rolling out (and as usual, the US gets it first).
I still personally prefer to film my own videos….. because I enjoy teaching and I believe that braving the lens of a camera is the best way to share your personality and connect with people – as well as the fact that YouTube wil require you to declare that the video is AI-generated (which I believe will reduce reach).
However, AI cloning certainly makes life easier for people who don’t like to be on camera or want to use an AI avatar instead of using their own face as the brand.
And I’m definitely going to be playing with it!
