Here’s the truth: authority on stage (or online) isn’t just about what you say—it’s how you say it. Your inflection—the way you end your sentences—can make you sound confident and trustworthy… or nervous and unsure.

👉 Reflect Today: Do you end your sentences with an upward tone (like you’re asking a question) or a downward tone (like you’re making a statement)?

3 Ways to Use Inflection to Command Authority

1️⃣ End Down, Not Up
When you finish sentences going up, it subconsciously signals doubt (“I’m not sure?”). When you finish down, it signals authority: “This is the truth.”

2️⃣ Pause With Power
Feeling nervous? Take a sip of water, walk across the stage, or pause. Making people wait for you communicates calm authority—even if you’re shaking inside.

3️⃣ Anchor with Stories, Not Questions
Use your tone to close your stories with certainty. Instead of “and that’s what I think?”, say “and that’s what I know.” Your audience will feel the difference instantly.

💡 Action Step: Record yourself presenting for 60 seconds. Listen back and notice—do you rise at the end of sentences? Practice ending down, and feel how much more confident and credible you sound.
