Why Your Business Goal Should NEVER Be “To GROW’ Your Business”

I remember when I first formally started my business, from a borrowed laptop on the corner of the kitchen table in the dark cold nights of England back in early 2009.

“I’m going to grow a big business”, I whispered to myself every day.

Fast forward a few years and I had exactly that, in Australia.

A BIG fat, massive, heavy business.

Bigger doesn’t always mean better.

I’ve learned that ‘SCALING’ a business is WAY better than ‘growing a business.

Growth means making our business bigger… which usually means bigger operations, bigger overheads and less profit.

Is it really worth doubling your revenue, if it also means doubling your expenses?

There are plenty of multi-million dollar a year in revenue companies out there, who are making a LOSS on every annual return.

SCALE, means making more PROFIT, without necessarily increasing the the overheads… essentially achieving more for your customers and your bottom line, whilst doing operationally less to get there.

Thus… the most successful business NEVER make their goal to ‘grow’…. they make their goal to ‘SCALE’.
