How I Resurrected 10+ Years of Old Content to Make $$$ Today (And How You Can Too)

Alright, my fellow knowledgepreneurs, CONTENT CREATORS, marketers, course creators and business friends….… let’s talk about one of the most criminally overlooked treasure chests sitting right under your nose.

Your old content.

Yep – THE DEAD STUFF FROM AAAAGGEEESSS ago when our skin was smoother and our hair a little thicker.

The blog posts you wrote years ago,

the Facebook rants that went viral in 2017,

the emails you poured your heart into back when MailStink, i mean mailchimp, was still a novelty,

the workshop notes buried on your hard drive,

the reels you started making and scripting, but never really did much with,

your old post that were actually better than you thoguht, its just that not enough people saw them……

If you’ve been creating for a while, you’re probably sitting on a literal goldmine of words, videos, and ideas that are quietly wasting away in digital graveyard, when they could be MAKING YOU FREAKING MOOLAH right now!!!!

Dig up those dead bodies of content and let’s get them back to work in a new life!!

With just a few simple moves, you can bring that content back to life today, and have it making you leads, sales, and money today too.

That’s exactly what I’ve been doing lately.

Here’s how I’ve resurrected my last decade of content and why you should absolutely be doing the same……


Step 1: Your Analytics Will Tell You What Content Is Your Gold To Resurrect

Don’t just randomly pick old posts and hope for the best.

Let the data do the talking.

I went into Google Analytics and filtered my website traffic over the last five years (that’s the furthest I could go back, even though my site has been publishing content waayyy longer than that – but 5 years is enough).

Then I went into Pages → All Pages, then filtered the page views by HIGHEST.

This showed me which of my old blogs and pages have had the highest number of visitors and views… eg, what’s the ‘best performing’ for me over the years.

Goldmine moment: this told me exactly which pieces of content have consistently attracted traffic.

If people are still reading those old posts years later, they are timeless winners.

Why wouldn’t I bring them back to the front of the stage and get them to earn me more and more and more?

Step 2: Pull Out the Old Winners

Once I had my list of WEBSITE traffic superstars from my analytics, I simply dusted them off and gave them a refresh.

That means:

  • Updating screenshots, tools, and references.
  • Modernising the examples.
  • Adding fresh CTAs and links.
  • Tightening up the language (I write faster and shorter (and less formal) now than I did 10 years ago – and I explain things differently…

Then I repurposed them into formats people are actually consuming today: short-form blog posts, snappy text-based Facebook thread posts, Reels, carousels, even YouTube shorts.

Same idea. New packaging. Fresh engagement. A bunch of new leads and sales.


Step 3: Resurrect Your Old Social Media Posting History

Now, this one made me laugh.

Because let’s face it, back in 2004 when Facebook used to ask ‘What’s on your mind, Sarah?‘, none of us were exactly philosophical craftsman… in fact I think most of my posts back then used to say ‘when is it wine o’clock?’…. sigh…

BUT you can actually download all of your social media content from your Facebook profile by going to Facebook > Settings > Your Information > Download Your Information > Choose format and date range > check emails for the file to be sent to you.

Then give that content to your ChatGPT to find posts that are relevant to your audience and message today.

BOOM.

However, I’ve been a diligent little content squirrel for years, and always kept my social posts in schedulers, Google Drive and planners.

That meant I had a full exportable history of thousands of posts I’d written across the last 10+ years.

One CSV export later… dropped into my Custom GPT that’s trained in all of my knowledge and content … and BOOM again – a content recycling MACHINE.

I had literally years of status updates, captions, thought-leadership nuggets, and how-to tips ready to go.

Instead of reinventing the wheel every day, I can now refresh and re-share my best past work, polished with the best of today’s most up-to-date info.

And because 90% of my current audience didn’t even know I existed when I first published these, it’s new to them, and it’s new to the millions of people searching google and AI for the answers to their questions – which can now send them directly to ME.


Step 4: Feed It Into AI

Here’s where it gets extra fun.

I uploaded years of my old posts into my Custom GPT.

Why? Because now I basically have my own “Sarah-brain clone” – a trained AI model that knows my voice, my frameworks, my stories, my methodolody and my content history.

I can ask it to:

  • Turn an old blog into 10 short posts.
  • Summarise an old rant into a Reels script.
  • Expand a quick caption into a new blog article.
  • Turn a personal post into a business related story and CTA
  • Turn a short tip post into a longer blog post
  • Turn a longer blog post into a thread style comment post
  • Create multiple hooks, CTAs, or angles for different platforms.

AI is my content resurrection and recycling machine.


Step 5: Don’t Just Share – Monetise

Here’s the imporatnt part… I am a MONETISATION and COMMERCIALISATION coach – its my job to make money and to teach other people how to make money, so this bit is CRITICAL – OK???

Every resurrected piece of content needs a clear call to action.

This means an actual LINK, with a statement that says ‘Get my free thing here (link),’, or ‘join my xyz course here (link’) etc.

It MUST get you comments, DMs, email addresses or sales.

When I brought my old content back, I updated it with:

  • Updated information, strategies and industry trends
  • Links to my current free lead magnets.
  • Invitations to my latest workshops, bootcamp, coaching progam and challenges.

And guess what?

These revived pieces are already bringing me new leads, DMs, sales enquiries, and even direct purchases.

All from stuff I created years ago that would otherwise be getting mouldy in digital heaven.


You Don’t Have To Work SO Hard All of The Time!!

Most entrepreneurs think they always need to be creating brand new content to get attention.

But here’s the truth:

  • Most of your current audience has never seen your old stuff.
  • Only 1% of your followers actually see any of your content you share
  • Most people (over 80%) need to see from you at least 22 times before they take action to buy from you – so repetition in your topic is important
  • The topics that were relevant 5 years ago are often still relevant today, albeit with a few tiny updated steps or info
  • Proven posts are proven for a reason – they already resonated once, and they’ll resonate again.

This is about working smarter, not harder.

Instead of reinventing the wheel every day, resurrect what you’ve already created, refresh it, recycle it and repost it….. AND grow from it.


Your Next Action Step

Here’s what I want you to do:

  1. Log into Google Analytics (or Tekmatix reporting if you’re a user).
  2. Download all of your posts from Facebook
  3. Find your top-performing content from the last 1-10 years.
  4. Pull out your highest-engagement social posts from your scheduler.
  5. Repurpose them into today’s formats: blog posts, carousels, threads, Reels, emails.
  6. Add updated CTAs that lead to your current offers.
  7. Publish and watch the engagement (and sales) roll in a fresh wave.

Final Thoughts

Your content is an asset.

It’s intellectual property you’ve already worked hard to create.

Leaving it to die in the digital graveyard is like throwing away money and work.

When you refresh, repurpose, and repost your past work, you don’t just save time, you turn your history into a profitable content machine.
