Is Email Marketing Really Dead?

I’ve heard the whispers too. People have been saying, “Email marketing is dead.” And let me tell you, that’s absolute rubbish! Email marketing is far from dead. It’s alive, kicking, and still one of the most effective marketing and relationship-building tools we’ve got in our digital toolkit.

If you’re one of those who think, “Oh, no one reads emails anymore because I don’t read mine,” I’ve got news for you: Just because you don’t read emails doesn’t mean nobody else does. With 8 billion people on this planet, trust me, some of them are reading emails. Even if just a handful start opening yours, you’re on your way to gaining loyal customers.

And here’s the kicker: Only half of the world’s population even has access to the internet. So when people whine about the online world being saturated, I have to laugh. We are literally the pioneers of this whole digital revolution! How insane is that?

The Reality Check: Email Beats Social Media

Let me hit you with some stats that might blow your mind. On social media, only about 1% of your friends or followers see your posts on average. 1%! And yet, people are terrified of posting too much in case they lose a follower or two. Now compare that with email. The global average open rate for emails is a whopping 36%! That’s 35% more chances of being seen by your audience than with social media alone. Think about that next time you hesitate to hit “send” on an email.

Oh, and just to be clear—I’m not saying you should dump social media altogether. I’m saying, do both. You need all the exposure you can get in this digital jungle.

Why Your Email List Is an Asset

Let’s talk about what your email list really is: it’s not just a list of names and email addresses. It’s a business asset. When someone goes to buy or invest in your business, one of the first things they look at is your database. How many people are on it? Are they engaged? Do they buy from you? Regularly?

Your email list isn’t just a marketing tool—it’s part of the actual value of your business. And guess what? Email marketing still delivers the highest return on investment (ROI) across nearly all industries. The cost to send an email? Basically zero. The potential returns? Through the roof. So, pop your 10-minute email together, hit send, and watch your bank account thank you for it later.

You can set up sequences that run for weeks, months, or even years, building relationships and guiding people through your customer journey on autopilot.
