To be a great guest that gets re-booked and referred to other event organisers – you need to have a speaker bio, a speaker introduction and a system for getting yourself consistently booked as a speaker effortlessly.

I use Tekmatix to automate the majority of my speaking gig outreach and bookings; but here are a few tips for those starting out:

• Craft a clear Speaker Bio, have a headshot ready and make sure your bio is written in the third person, so it’s easy for others to introduce you. (You can see mine on SarahCordiner.com/speaker) and I also have Canva templates in my Legends Lab.

• Prepare a short introduction for organisers and MC’s to welcome you to stage and promote you to their audience.

• Create a SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) for getting bookings and managing bookings, so that anyone can do your speaking outreach or management for you (or better yet, automate it with tech like Tekmatix).

If you want to command top rates as a speaker, you need to position yourself as an expert, be prepared, and have your materials ready to go at a moment’s notice.
