1. Welcome to the Possibility

Hello and welcome! If you’re watching the replay of Concept to Course 2025, know that you’re in for something transformative. You’re about to embark on a journey that takes your raw ideas and turns them into tangible, sellable, world-changing educational products.

This is not just about learning to build a course. This is about transforming your life and business by commercialising what you already know. And yes, you absolutely can do this, even if the tech terrifies you and you’ve no clue where to start.

Let’s do this together, one practical, doable step at a time.

2. Understand the Journey (and the Magic of the Teacher Hat)

In this first session, I encourage every participant to wear two hats: the student hat and the teacher hat.

As students, you’ll experience the discomfort of not knowing. You’ll trip over tech, stumble through new terms, and sometimes feel overwhelmed. But this, my friends, is what growth looks like.

With your teacher hat on, you’ll observe this learning experience from the lens of your future students. You’ll start to understand how best to support them because you’ll feel what they feel.

It’s powerful stuff. Your empathy muscle will grow stronger. Your content will become more impactful. And your confidence as a course creator will explode.

3. The Origin Story Matters

Why do people buy from you? Because they resonate with your story. I shared my own origin story—how I lost $2.7 million in government contracts overnight and had to reinvent my entire business model. That’s when I discovered online courses.

I didn’t know how to turn on a webcam. I’d never recorded a course in my life. But I learned. I persevered. And now I teach others to do the same.

Your story is your power. Use it to connect, relate and sell. People buy transformation, not information. Show them what’s possible.

4. Overcoming the Curse of Knowledge

We all suffer from the “curse of knowledge.” Once you know something so well, it becomes hard to imagine what it was like not knowing it. This makes teaching difficult.

That’s why I teach my students to go back to the beginning. Reconnect with the days you had no clue what a funnel was, or how to write a sales page. That’s the mindset your learners are in. Meet them there.

5. Planning Your Course Structure

Step one: Brain dump EVERYTHING your student needs to know to go from zero to hero in your area of expertise. No order needed. Just get it out.

Step two: Organise that brain dump into logical modules or themes. These become the sections of your course.

Step three: Put those modules into a step-by-step order. This is your success path—the journey your student will take.

Step four: Assign each module to a delivery method (video, worksheet, live call, etc.).

Voila! You have your first course outline.

6. Tech Doesn’t Have to Be Terrifying
