Why Memberships Are Dominating Right Now (And How to Start One in 60 Minutes)

Let’s talk about what’s actually working in the market right now.

There are two models performing exceptionally well.
One of them is subscription memberships.

Not complicated.
Not overbuilt.
Not perfect.

👉 Reflect: Are you overthinking what “should” be in a membership… instead of starting with what your people actually want?

Here’s how to think about this properly.

1️⃣ Memberships Don’t Need to Be Fancy to Work

A membership is simply:
A monthly fee in exchange for access to you and your thinking.

It does not need:

  • a massive curriculum
  • dozens of modules
  • perfectly produced content

You can start with one simple thing.

2️⃣ Start With the Value of One Hour of You

Ask yourself this honestly:

If someone booked one hour with you today, what would you charge?

Write the number down.

Now some real-world benchmarks:

  • B2C (public market), 3+ years experience → $280/hour minimum
  • 5+ years experience → $350+/hour
  • B2B / corporate → $1,500/hour minimum
  • Personally, I won’t walk into a corporate room for under $5,000/hour

This is not arrogance.
This is industry reality.

3️⃣ Membership Pricing Should Be Lower Than 1:1

Here’s the sweet spot:

👉 Price your membership at half or a quarter of your hourly rate.

Why?

  • Lower price = lower cancellation risk
  • Recurring payments = stability
  • Group access feels like a no-brainer value

Example:
If your hour is $400
A $100–$200/month membership becomes insanely attractive.

4️⃣ The Simplest Winning Membership Model

Your entire membership can start as:

  • One live Q&A call per month
  • Members bring their questions
  • You show up for 60 minutes

That’s it.

No content library.
No stress.
No perfection.

People join because:
Why would I pay $500 for one hour 1:1
when I can pay $100/month and still get access to your brain?

5️⃣ MRR Is the Sexiest Thing in Business

Write this down and circle it:

MRR – Monthly Recurring Revenue

Why it matters:

  • predictable income
  • no feast-or-famine cycles
  • easier hiring
  • easier planning
  • easier ads
  • easier scaling

And here’s the kicker…

6️⃣ Memberships Explode Business Valuation

Rough numbers:

  • One-off revenue businesses → ~3x revenue valuation
  • Strong recurring revenue businesses → up to 15x revenue

Same business.
Different model.
Massively different outcome.
